Max Hambly, Owner/operator of Hilltown Building Co., learned the building trades as an apprentice carpenter in the late 80’s, originally in commercial construction, becoming an expert metal stud framer before learning residential carpentry and moving to Austin in the mid-90’s. Once in Austin, he focused on residential construction, remodeling and additions. In his early years in Austin, as an independent remodeling contractor, he found that he took great satisfaction in transforming old houses into beautiful homes for his clients. In 2008, with the recession looming, he took a position as Senior Estimator with a highly respected and award winning Design-Build firm. Over the next 11 years, he worked closely with a talented in-house team of Architects, Designers and tradespeople to successfully produce scores of high quality renovations and additions, many of which were award winning and industry recognized. During that time, he was also responsible for procuring the majority of building permits, honing his fluency with the ever evolving Austin building permit and plan review process.

With close to 20,000 hours as a team member on staff at a large, successful design-build remodeling firm; in addition to 20 years prior experience in the field, Max is an Outlier.

Hilltown Building Co. Is the culmination of that journey and the instrument that brings that expertise to the client.

Meet the neighbors- Max lives in Central Austin with his wife and partner Tina, their two kiddos and dog. They have been through several remodels of their own homes, so they understand the process from both sides. When Max finds a little free time he can usually be found somewhere in the outdoors, enjoying Austin’s surrounding rivers and hills!
